Studio

These photographs were taken in the photography studio we have at college. This was at the start of the year when i was concentrating on face paint as i has been looking at work by Rankin and Gabriel Wickbold.

Overlaying Images

This is the original photograph i took which included using glitter on the models eyes to make them stand out.

For experimentation i decided to overlay an image of some glitter and this is how it turned out. I think it looks really good and works well with the glitter on the models eyes.

Portraiture

These photographs are also concentrating on a tribal look but without the bright colours being used. I think these also work well as they have been taken from the correct angle to get that effect and the costume really works well with what is happening in the photograph.

Tribal Portraiture 1

These photographs also show the tribal effect i was looking at. The first picture is what i started with by just using blue and white face paint. I then added more and used different colours and i think these were the most successful ones and had more of a tribal look. Towards the end i decided to experiment and smudge all the face paint together and this worked really well especially with the models facial expression.

Tribal Portraiture

This is some of my work which i did concentrating on tribal make up. I looked at some work by Daniela Glunz as she uses face paint but then i made it my own by concentrating on a tribal look.

Abstract Expressionism

For this final outcome i looked at the work of Wassily Kandinsky and his abstract expressionism. I decided to use face paint on the models face and then overlay this image of Kandinsky's using photoshop. I think it has turned out really well and i like the way the photography and painting work well together.

Environmental Portraiture

These are some photographs from my work i did during my first year of college. I decided to concentrate on portraiture along with using different locations. To help with this i looked at the work of Annie Leibovitz and her photographs are portraits whilst using different locations.
